District Sales Manager, North California

Position Summary:

As a District Sales Manager, one must have an extensive wine (primarily) & spirits knowledge with a drive to continually build on this while demonstrating professionalism and integrity. DSWS is drawn to those who have the innate ability to seek out new ideas, exhibit initiative, and operate in a manner that is both creative and proactive.  This is a dynamic environment where individuals thrive on being a part of a growing, established, entrepreneurial company. This position is a direct report to the Regional Sales Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding company sales goals and providing leadership to an assigned team to accomplish the accurate and timely execution of all company initiatives, programs, and procedures
  • Work closely with the applicable distributor sales representatives
  • Create target account list and make direct sales calls
  • Present new wines to distributors
  • Ability to effectively utilize company systems to track sales and enter monthly expenses
  • Direct product placements and image of producers
  • Plan work-with schedules for producers visiting in the territory; make associated arrangements for presentations and events with distributors, trade customers, and consumers.
  • Develop programs to build brands and marketing strategies working cross-functionally with Brand Managers
  • Provide frequent presentations to the distributor’s sales teams and company meetings as needed
  • Plan and present events, in-store tastings or consumer educational seminars in territory
  • Submit and maintain price change forms to ensure current listings are up to date at distributors
  • Provide consistent reports of progress in the territory
  • Maintain frequent communication/partnership with DVP
  • Oversee collections from distributors when necessary
  • Provide weekly activity reports
 Qualifications:
  • Established successful sales experience
  • Ability to effectively utilize company software programs e.g., Microsoft Office, Diver, Pocket Advantage
  • Ability to exercise independent good judgment 
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Must have the ability to quickly gain strong product knowledge.
  • Must have solid time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems with a sense of urgency
  • Must be professional, responsible, outgoing and reliable
 Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • Must be at a minimum of 21 years old
  • Minimum two years of related experience as an area sales manager 
  • Strong distributor management experience required
  • Must have and maintain a valid States driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Mobility within the territory (vehicle required).
